“Each day Present” correspondent Desi Lydic on Wednesday clowned Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent after he defended President Donald Trump’s feedback that kids may just have to live with fewer dolls because of his tariffs.
Bessent — in a Fox News appearance on Tuesday — stated he would reassure just a little lady with two dolls as a substitute of 30 that she’ll have a “higher life” than her dad and mom and may have “financial freedom” due to the president.
“Sure, if there’s one factor kids love, it’s the idea of financial freedom,” Lydic quipped.
She added that it’s “very clear” that Bessent was by no means just a little lady, as they might “by no means be on board” with affording fewer toys.
Lydic, doing an impression of just a little lady, declared, “I don’t need that stuff, I need Barbies. You’ll be able to’t make financial freedom scissor one another.”
She later recognized the “one job” Bessent can be “even worse” at: impersonating Santa Claus.
Moments earlier, Lydic famous that Trump’s doll instance wasn’t hypothetical. Mattel — the maker of Barbies and different widespread toys — introduced this week it could raise prices on select products to offset increased prices tied to Trump’s tariffs.
“Sure, they’re elevating costs on Barbie, even she has to chop again. She needed to transfer out of Barbie’s Dreamhouse and into Barbie’s dream studio house with two roommates,” Lydic quipped.
“Her pink convertible is now a 2007 Toyota Tercel, it’s very unhappy. Come on, don’t make Barbie tighten her belt much more, she solely has a one-inch waist.”
