    Donald Trump says LA would be ‘burning to the ground’ if he hadn’t deployed troops

    President Trump doubled down Tuesday on his resolution to deploy U.S. Marines and the California Nationwide Guard to Los Angeles to quell the anti-ICE riots, saying the destruction would have been far worse if he had not finished that.

    “If I didn’t ‘ship within the troops’ to Los Angeles the final three nights that when lovely and nice metropolis can be burning to the bottom proper now, very similar to 25,000 homes burned to the bottom in L.A. do to an incompetent Governor and Mayor,” the president posted on social media.

    Tensions continued to escalate for a fourth day Monday evening in Los Angeles after protests in opposition to Immigration and Customs Enforcement gripped the town, with demonstrators clashing with regulation enforcement, vandalizing buildings and setting autos ablaze downtown.

    Mr. Trump deployed 4,000 California Nationwide Guardsmen and 700 Marines to the town.

    California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, each Democrats, have insisted the navy presence is pointless and solely inflames tensions.

    Mr. Newsom and California Lawyer Common Rob Bonta filed a lawsuit Monday in opposition to the Trump administration, saying federal officers unlawfully “trampled over” California’s sovereignty after they federalized the state’s Nationwide Guard.

    Mr. Trump hit again at Mr. Newsom and Ms. Bass, saying the allowing course of to rebuild houses following the huge wildfires in January was fully bungled.

    On Sunday, Mr. Newsom signed two govt orders geared toward dashing up the rebuilding course of amid complaints from residents that it was shifting too slowly.
