    Eight adults, 12 children hospitalized after lightning strike in South Carolina

    A lightning strike in South Carolina on Tuesday despatched eight adults and 12 youngsters to the hospital with non-life-threatening accidents.

    Lexington County officers stated on social media that the incident occurred within the afternoon when the lightning hit Dominion Seaside Park close to Lake Murray Dam.

    A swimming space on the park is surrounded by a metallic cable with buoys connected, the Irmo Hearth District stated on social media. A number of victims swam as much as the buoys and had been holding the cable when the lightning hit the water, sending electrical energy into the metallic wiring, Irmo Hearth officers stated.

    The electrocuted victims had been despatched to a few hospitals and had been anticipated to get better, county officers stated.

    No storm system appeared earlier than the strike.

    “It didn’t rain or something like that; it was only a random storm cloud that glided by,” Lexington County spokeswoman Vanessa Diaz stated in a press release given to NBC Information.

    The seaside park was closed for the rest of Tuesday however is predicted to open again up Wednesday, Lexington County officers stated.
