Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) criticized President Donald Trump after he not too long ago pardoned over 1,500 people charged in connection to the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the U.S. Capitol, together with some who assaulted legislation enforcement officers.

In an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union” on Sunday, Graham stated the controversial pardons “despatched the fallacious sign.”

In the course of the interview, Bash introduced up Daniel Rodriguez, a Jan. 6 rioter who was sentenced to 12 years in jail, after tasing and beating former District of Columbia Metropolitan Police officer Michael Fanone.

Fanone suffered a heart attack as a result of assault.

“On Monday, [Rodriguez] was amongst those that obtained a full pardon. Are you OK with that?” Bash requested Graham.

“No,” Graham responded. “I believe if you pardon individuals who assault law enforcement officials, you’re sending the fallacious sign to the general public at giant, and it’s not what you need to be to guard cops, however [the president] has that energy.”

Graham then switched gears to calling out former President Joe Biden for providing clemency to the defendants who shot two FBI brokers in South Dakota, in addition to granting last-minute pardons to his household, together with his son Hunter, after claiming he would not do so.

“President Trump not less than stated, ‘I’m gonna do that,’” Graham declared.

“I don’t like this. I don’t prefer it on both facet, and I believe the general public doesn’t prefer it both,” he continued. “So if this continues, if that is the norm, it might be an effort to reign within the pardon energy of the president as an establishment.”

Graham went on to unleash an accusatory rant about Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris supporting convicted criminals, prompting Bash to show the dialog again to Trump.

Bash then questioned Graham about his ideas on seeing Stewart Rhodes, the founding father of the far-right anti-government militia Oath Keepers, at a Trump rally in Las Vegas on Saturday evening.

“I don’t suppose there’s a restriction on him being there. I don’t like this,” he stated.

Graham wrapped up his feedback by telling Bash and CNN viewers, “Should you obtained an thought about the best way to rein within the pardon energy of the president that goes too far, give me a name.”

In a separate interview on NBC Information’ “Meet the Press” on Sunday, Graham echoed similar thoughts on Trump’s choice to pardon the Jan. 6 rioters final week.

“Pardoning the individuals who went into the Capitol and beat up a police officer violently I believe was a mistake,” he stated.
