Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) stated Sunday that Elon Musk, the general public face of the so-called Division of Authorities Effectivity, doesn’t have the authority to fireplace authorities staff.
“Elon Musk doesn’t have the facility to fireplace individuals. The president of america is Donald Trump, and the company heads are those who handle every of their departments, so that they’ve received the — they’ve received the choice. That’s what Elon Musk has instructed me time and time once more,” Scott said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
Scott’s assertion comes after Musk reportedly clashed with prime Cupboard officers, particularly Secretary of State Marco Rubio, throughout a gathering in regards to the authorized challenges in regard to the tech billionaire’s ordered layoffs and the influence of his slashing of federal businesses.
By DOGE, an entity created by Trump, Musk has overseen cuts of thousands of federal government employees since January, resulting in chaos in the workforce and concerns from congressional Republicans.
Through the cantankerous gathering Thursday, Trump instructed his Cupboard secretaries they need to make staffing cuts first, not Musk and DOGE.
On Saturday, Trump denied there was any stress between Musk and Rubio.
“ELON AND MARCO HAVE A GREAT RELATIONSHIP,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “ANY STATEMENT OTHER THAN THAT IS FAKE NEWS!!! DJT.”
Elsewhere within the interview with Scott, host Jake Tapper questioned whether or not the senator is “assured” Musk’s cuts “have been strategic, have been sensible, have been cautious.”

“You do your finest you may daily,” Scott instructed Tapper. “What they’re making an attempt to do is rein in authorities, proper? Daily. Are [Trump and Musk] going to be good? No. Nobody is ideal. Once they make a mistake, are they going to repair it? Yeah.”
